Replan Transit calculates public transport accessibility for every network and timetable variant: residents, jobs and destinations within reach, travel-time bands of 15, 30 and 45 minutes, and service quality as a map.
An accessibility analysis shows whom a stop, a line or a network reaches and in what time. It is the basis for local transport plans, network changes and funding applications. In Replan Transit it runs with every variant, and Replan SIM adds where the trips go and how long they take.
Residents, jobs and destinations around every stop, calculated over the walking network. Walking on the street network, explained
What is reachable by public transport in 15, 30 and 45 minutes, from a point or an area.
Every hexagon of the region scored by walking distance to the nearest stop and its frequency, a PTAL-style map. PTAL, explained
Access to schools, clinics, workplaces and other destinations, with travel efficiency as a hex map.
Directness and parallel services across the whole network, per variant.
Maps for baseline and variant, with annotations, as PNG, GeoJSON or a link for the committee.
| Measure | What it shows | In Replan |
|---|---|---|
| Catchment radius | Straight line around the stop, often 300 to 600 metres | Walking distance on the street network with residents and jobs |
| PTAL and stop categories | Stop category and frequency within walking distance | Service quality per hexagon, saved with the project |
| Travel time | Isochrones from a point | Travel-time bands of 15, 30 and 45 minutes on the real timetable |
| Destination access | Reachable destinations per place | Destination and activity access with travel efficiency |
| Effects on groups | Rarely part of the analysis | Replan SIM by income, age and district |
A target network with service standards: who is reached in 15, 30 and 45 minutes and what the network costs.
A new line, a moved stop or a headway change with a before and after map.
How many employees reach a site by public transport, bike or shuttle.
Where there is no public transport option today and which line would create one. Use cases
A transit accessibility analysis measures how many people, jobs and destinations are reachable by public transport within a given time, from a stop, an area or the whole network. It is the basis for local transport plans and network changes.
PTAL (Public Transport Accessibility Level) is the measure used by Transport for London: walking time to every stop plus waiting time, converted into a band from 0 to 6b. The Swiss and German stop categories (ÖV-Güteklassen) follow a similar idea. Replan Transit calculates a comparable service quality per hexagon. PTAL explained in one minute →
Replan calculates the walk to the stop over the walking network from OpenStreetMap. Barriers such as rail lines, rivers or missing crossings become visible. From straight line to walking route →
For every one. When you change a line, a stop or a headway, Replan Transit recalculates catchments, travel-time bands and service quality and shows the comparison with the baseline. Transit service planning →
Replan SIM replaces the assumed waiting time with simulated waiting and shows where trips go, how long they take and how access changes by income, age and district. Replan SIM →
